A DAD has been disqualified from driving for getting behind the wheel while on medication.

Bryan Connolly, drove his five-year-old son after taking a mixture of medicine including Tramadol.

Police spotted his vehicle in Kinfaus Drive in Drumchapel on April 23 last year and became concerned due to the fact it was making a ‘clanging’ noise.

The car was swerving around the road with the bumper dragging along the ground, damage to the near side wing mirror and no front near side tyre. An examination revealed that Connolly, of Clydeholm Terrace, was not fit to drive and had a mixture of medication in his system.

He appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court for sentencing after pleading guilty to driving under the influence of drugs, with a child and a damaged car.

His defence agent told the court that his client had picked his son up in Loch Lomond and made the ‘wrong’ decision to drive home. It was noted that all the drugs in his system had been prescribed to him due to him having an aneurysm in his leg.

The sentencing Sheriff ordered Connolly to undergo 18 months of supervision and disqualified him from driving for four years.
