A MAN lashed out at a bouncer and a police officer after he was refused entry back in to a Glasgow nightclub.

Kevin Wright had been out drinking with friends throughout the day before he had a fight with a female bouncer at One Up in Royal Exchange Square.

The 29-year-old offshore worker was attempting to get in to the nightclub at 1am but the bouncer refused him entry because only customers who had prepaid and possessed a wrist band were allowed in.

Glasgow Sherriff Court was told by the procurator fiscal that Wright then attempted to walk past the bouncer and in to the club.

But the bouncer stopped him from entering and he started acting aggressively.

The court heard Wright started using “his size and weight” to push around the door woman which nearly made her fall down the stairs to the club.

She had Wright by one arm and with the other she called for assistance.

More bouncers came to her aid and then put Wright on the ground. He then started struggling violently.

Two police officers soon attended and joined the bouncers to deal with Wright.

Wright started lashing out with and kicked the female bouncer.

He then attempted to punch and headbutt one of the police officers.

The officers soon had control of the situation - they handcuffed him and took him away.

Wright admitted that on March 6 at One Up he assaulted a female bouncer by repeatedly pushing her and kicking her.

He also admitted assaulting a police officer by attempting to punch and headbutt him to the head, attempt to bite him and spit at him.

His defending solicitor said this incident was fuelled by alcohol and Wright was very sorry for his actions.

The man from Glaston, in North Ayrshire, was sentenced to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work.
