A couple who paid more than £2000 to book a villa in Ibiza for a wedding party may have lost their money to scammers.
David Craig, and fiancee Michaela Currie, 29, are set to marry on the Spanish island next month.
As reported by the Daily Record, after paying for the property via a bank transfer, the 33-year-old discovered he had been conned.
The wedding is on July 17 and 70 guests are flying out to join them.
The couple wanted to host a party the day after the ceremony to thank everyone for coming over.
They booked a villa, where they planned to stay until July 23, through the website accommodation-ibiza.com on March 22, paying the full balance of €2360 (£2065) through money transfer firm TransferWise on April 25.
The couple realised something was wrong when they tried to open a link to a web page for the villa only to find it was shut down.
David sent an email to query it but it bounced back, confirming his email hadn’t been delivered.
Transferwise had launched a probe with Santander, who operate the account purportedly linked to the villa.
The couple have been told the account is still open and they are awaiting a response from the bank.
