OFFICERS are investigating a fire that was deliberately started at a derelict church in West Dunbartonshire.
Emergency services were called after members of the public saw smoke coming from a building in Main Street, Alexandria on Saturday, June 24 at around 8pm
A crew managed to quickly extinguish a fire inside the church around half an hour later.
Nobody was in the building and there were no injuries as a result of the fire or smoke.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said: “We received a call on Saturday at 7.58pm at a derelict church on Main Street in Alexandria.
“There was a small fire on the ground floor which was put out by our crew by 8.29pm.”
Police ask that anyone who may have seen anything suspicious to contact them on 101.
