A GLASGOW woman who runs a magazine from home has praised a programme of improvement works which has boosted her broadband speed.

More than 65,000 homes and businesses across the city are now able to connect to high-speed fibre broadband, thanks to the £428m Digital Scotland Superfast Broadband programme.

Lynne Kennedy, editor of Business Women Scotland Magazine, who lives and works from home in Park Circus is among thousands of people who are benefitting from fibre broadband thanks to the project.

Internet users in Drumchapel, Govan, Langside, Merrylee, Possilpark, Springburn and Shettleston could also see improvement in their speeds too.

While, more local coverage will follow as engineers from Openreach, the local network business which is part of BT Group, continue work on the ground.

Internet users, however, need to sign up for the new, faster services with an internet service provider, as upgrades are not automatic.

Lynne said: “For me, the download speeds have been the biggest benefit.

“It has saved me so much time and with my type of job it’s all about thinking ahead and being prepared for the next publication. Fibre broadband has made this so much easier.”
