Frozen meat-free mince sold by Lidl, Waitrose, and Ocado is being recalled over fears the products could contain pieces of blue plastic.

The recall has been issued by MTA Foods (UK) Ltd and affects two of the company’s products: What’s Cooking? Frozen Meat Free Mince (454g, all sell by dates) and Meet The Alternative Beef Style Mince (500g, sell by dates January 2018, February 2018, and April 2018).

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) said: “MTA Foods (UK) Ltd is recalling the above products.

“Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling these products.

“These notices explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.”

Customers are being advised to not eat the mince, but to return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.
