TWO brothers who launched a tirade of Islamophobic abuse at men on the street have appeared in court.

Bartosz Trzonkowski, 31, of Burnfield Road, Thornliebank, and Blazej Trzonkowski, 28, of Langside Road, Govanhill, approached four men on Allison Street on November 14, 2015.

Around 9.15pm, the witnesses were standing having a conversation amongst themselves when the brothers began running towards them shouting “f*****g Muslims” and “do you want a fight?”.

The pair attempted to draw the men into a fight, despite the fact that they did not know each other.

The three-men became alarmed as they feared for their safety and stated that they were in fact Romanian and not Muslim.

One of the brothers replied “we hate Romanian Muslims”.

After walking away from the scene, the accused followed the victims and continued shouting abuse at them.

Police officers on patrol and saw the brothers running towards the men and intimating that they wanted a fight.

The brothers were approached by officers and were seen to be clenching their fists in an aggressive manner.

They were told to desist to which they replied: “F*****g hell what about Paris” and “f*****g Muslims”.

The brothers both appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court for sentencing after pleading guilty to challenging the men to a fight, pursuing them and making abusive comments.

Bart’s defence agent told the court that the incident had occurred the day after the Paris terror attacks.

The 31-year-old admitted that his behaviour was unacceptable.

Bartosz Trzonkowski’s solicitor told the court that his client earns over £1,000 a week while working as a chef.

Sheriff Cameron ordered him to pay a fine of £720 - £200 of which was attributed to the religious aggravation.

Blazej Trzonkowski was ordered to undergo 70 hours of unpaid work within a period of three months.

20 hours of the community payback order was attributed to the religious aggravation of the incident.
