THE cancellation of the Green Day gig at Bellahouston has sparked a blame game between the band's management and the promoters.
Organisers, PCL Presents, were continuing to cite “adverse weather conditions” at 4.30pm today as the reason the plug has been pulled.
However, a statement on the band's website states there were issues with the safety of the stage.
Glasgow City Council issued a statement saying it had played no role in the decision to pull the show.
It is understood the Green Day's management made the final call.
The promoters would not comment on reports that workers arriving at the site today were sent away unpaid but did say it would be releasing a further statement.
Organisers PCL Presents told fans this afternoon: “We are sorry to inform you that due to adverse weather conditions it is no longer safe for the bands to perform on stage and unfortunately today’s show will be cancelled.
“Tickets will be refunded from point of purchase within ten working days.”

The disappointing news comes on the day thousands of fans had been taking to social media to express their excitement prior to heading through for the gig.
However, excitement has quickly turned to fury as many fans question why organisers had to take such drastic measures and close the gates just as the rain had started to subside.

"Adverse weather" you say? Ridiculous if this is the real reason @GreenDay gig is cancelled pic.twitter.com/DBg1uccOAs

The band famed for hits including American Idiot, Basket Case and Holiday had announced the date back in December.
Green Day, who are fronted by singer Billie Joe Armstrong, recently released their 12th studio album Revolution Radio along with single Bang Bang
The rockers have sold 75 million albums to date and have been inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
California punk rock icons Rancid had been set to perform tonight in a support slot at the Independence Day show.
A statement from concert organiser PCL Presents said: "It is with great sadness and disappointment that today's scheduled event for Green Day at Bellahouston Park was unable to go ahead.
"After many months of hard work and preparation, and after seven days of production and site crew working tirelessly around the clock on site, adverse weather conditions overnight and throughout the morning, during the band's scheduled load-in, led to issues on stage.
"A meeting between the on-site health and safety, event management, the artists' representatives and promoters concluded that it would be unsafe in the timescale to proceed with the event.
"Ticket holders for the event can be assured that they will be able to receive refunds from point of purchase. We expect these to have all been processed within 10 working days.
"We have been informed that a statement has been made by a sub-contracted bar company, that statement was made without speaking to us and without knowledge, we are in the process of investigating this fully.
"Months of effort, planning and hard work have been put into this event and we are all heartbroken that this event was unable to happen today."

What is your response?couldn't afford to do anything else for my summer holidays so this was literally the only thing i had planned and it got called off because PCL didn't book the park the day before to set up. drove two hours, paid £200 for a hotel and bought a new bag specifically bc of the smaller than a3 policy only for it to be called off. raging isn't the word. "punk" my arse
What is your response? Not very happy about it,travelled over from Bulgaria and as I have a prosthetic leg and use crutches to get about it wasn't easy, but had been looking forward to this for months as It hasn't been long since my amputation .stood in the Queue for 2 hours to be told 25 mins before gates open it has been cancelled, raging is putting it mildly.
What is your response?#PreyForThelightRainVictims #PutacoatOn #SlightlyDamp
What is your response?I'm in Glasgow now with friends who have travelled from both Inverness and Aberdeen. Spending a small fortune on travel and accommodation for it to be cancelled at such short notice and not even an honest statement from the organisers. Ticket refunds are not going to cut it for most people. Its clearly nothing to do with any of the bands involved.
What is your response?Took my last lieu day from work for this gig... if they'd cancelled a day or two ago I could've saved my last "holiday" poor show, this is tee shirt weather in Scotland.
