A MAN caused £350 worth of damage to a police car after he threw a glass bottle at it.

Jordan Buist was sentenced at Glasgow Sheriff Court for being aggressive towards police and subsequently causing hundreds of pounds worth of damage to the car.

The court heard that the 18-year-old got himself involved in an incident officers were called out to. As police were dealing with another individual he approached and said “Get off them you scummy b*****s”.

After that he ran towards a parked police car and threw a bottle off it.

The bottle caused a large crack across the front windscreen and damaged part of the door panel.

The damage was deemed to have cost £350 to repair.

Buist admitted that on April 29 2016 at Toryglen Road, Rutherglen, he behaved in a threatening manner by acting aggressively, shouting and swearing.

He also admitted that on the same date at the same place he wilfully or recklessly damage a police car by throwing a bottle at it.

His defending solicitor said his client had changed since the incident. Buist of Pinkerton Avenue, Rutherglen, was sentenced to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work for admitting to damaging police property. He also had his sentencing deferred for the charge of threatening behaviour for six months to show consistent good behaviour.
