The organiser behind Tuesday’s cancelled Green Day gig has said it is looking into whether other subcontractors “could have done more or could have been better prepared.”

In a statement apologising to the thousands of fans affected once again, PCL Presents has also blasted “false rumours” circulating the debacle.

PCL Presents insists that “weather issues” were to blame for the show which was pulled with just hours to go until the gates at Bellahouston Park were set to open.

Describing how it is investigating whether some subcontractors “could have done more,” the team added: “Until we receive statements in from all parties involved in the event it is unfair to make a further statement or contact everyone directly.”

Lambasting “false rumours” which have been circulation since the cancellation, PCL Presents said: “All statements made so far are correct, and were made as soon all parties agreed on the decision to cancel. There was no deliberate decision to stall or was there any reason to stall the announcement.

“One rigger did have a small accident on site from a low height several days before. It was not an issue related to a stage fault and he was off site for a checkup and back on site. That incident was reported to all relevant bodies.

“No rigger fell from the roof on the show day - it did not happen.

“All parts of the PA and lights were there and the stage build started seven days before the event day.

“The heavy rain overnight and in the morning made for unsafe conditions on stage for Green Day to load in at their scheduled time of 6am.

“Pictures circulating do not reflect the true build of the stage on the morning of July 4 as they were taken after the de-rig had started due to the issues encountered described with the stage. Therefore, no stage barrier was in place as it had been removed to start the de-rig.”

The company also said it will make “a full and detailed statement” once it has received statements from all parties involved in the planning before coming to a conclusion over the day’s events.

Ticket holders have been assured that they will be able to receive refunds from their point-of-purchase. All refunds should reach recipients within ten working days.
