A 10-YEAR-OLD girl is getting on her bike once again to raise money to support homeless people in Glasgow.

After seeing people sleeping rough on the streets Chloe Lochery felt she had to do something to help them. She was then told about the Lodging House Mission (LHM) who help disadvantaged people get back on their feet.

So last year, along with her Papa, Andrew McIntyre, the chaplain at Partick South Church, Chloe raised just over £1,000 by cycling 18 and a half miles on her bike starting at Glasgow Green and finishing outside LHM’s offices.

Now, a year later she is doing it again.

“I want to help the homeless so they have a place to sleep and something to eat,” said the Wallace Primary School pupil. I’m training with my Papa by cycling five miles. We will then build that up.

“My Papa told me about Lodging House Mission and I wanted to help.”

When asked how seeing homeless people on the streets make her feel, she said: “It makes me feel a bit sad.

“They should have a home. When I see a homeless person I will go to the nearest shop and buy them something to drink.”

With some help from her mum, Christine McIntyre, Chloe has recently set up a Justgiving page to raise funds for the cause.

She will then set off on her bike on August 26.

“Chloe has been aware of homelessness for a while now and she wants to do whatever she can to help,” said Christine.

Gus Smeaton, the manager of Lodging House Mission, said it was brilliant to see Chloe back raising money for the cause.

Gus said: “We’re delighted to see her back raising money for the cause.

“She done such a fantastic job last year we still talk about her and the efforts she went to to this day. It really is brilliant to see her back.”
