Revellers at Scotland's newest music festival, TRNSMT, have been treated to a surge in temperatures for the second day.

Shades and sunblock were a must for many of those attending the event, with temperatures set to peak at 17C (62.6F).

The Vyrll Society officially kicked things off by opening the King Tut’s Tent at 12.45pm, the first of a bustling bill including superstars Stormzy, The Kooks, Glasgow boys The LaFontaines, George Ezra and a headline act from the mighty Kasabian.

Given the higher temperatures, organisers are keen to remind festivalgoers to drink plenty of water – which is available at points across the site – and wear sunscreen, to ensure they enjoy the day to the full.

Geoff Ellis, Festival Director of TRNSMT, said: “Yesterday marked the first day of TRSNMT festival and the atmosphere was electric - we fully expect today to be no different.

The festival is already well under way, with an incredible mix of home-grown and big name acts already taking to the stages.

Excitement is building for our headliners, the fantastic Kasabian, who will close the main stage tonight with an undoubtedly energetic performance.

I’d like to remind fans to look after themselves and take care of each other.  Your safety and comfort is our number one priority, so drink responsibly, have lots of water, don’t take the risk with drugs and have fun.”

With approximately 50,000 fans expected on the Green on Saturday, Police Scotland and Ambulance Scotland commended the behaviour of the crowd, and have reiterated general advice to festival goers.

Chief Inspector Simon Jeacocke, Event Commander for Police Scotland, said: “Friday’s audience was great, with no arrests and a wonderful atmosphere all round – and we’re pleased to report only one arrest so far today.

"We’re expecting higher numbers for Saturday so we’d like to remind people to plan their journeys in advance, be patient and be aware of what can’t be brought on site.

"Our drugs dogs are working again today, so we would like to remind those attending that there is a zero tolerance approach to drugs.

"We continue to have an armed presence outside Glasgow Green for everyone’s safety and security.”

Alan McWiliams, Manager of Ambulance Scotland added: “We’re pleased to note that there have been no serious injuries to date.

"The sun is uncharacteristically out, so we’re encouraging everyone to drink plenty of water and wear lots of sunscreen.

"We’ve a high number of staff on site, including doctors, nurses and paramedics, in case anyone finds themselves in need of assistance, but we’d encourage everyone to take care of themselves and each other and enjoy a safe and fun day two at TRNSMT.”

More than 100,000 are anticipated to attend the festival over the course of the weekend.

The event finishes on Sunday, with acts such as The View, local band Twin Atlantic, Two Door Cinema Club and headliners Biffy Clyro.
