Administrators for Handmade Burger Co - which collapsed into administration on Thursday - have confirmed two branches in the Glasgow area are among nine to have been closed with immediate effect across the UK.
The intu Braehead and East Kilbride Leisure Hub branches were shut at the weekend.
On a nationwide scale, the closures have resulted in 163 sudden job losses out of a total workforce of almost 700.
The Evening Times reported on the news on the day the announcement was made.

The St. Vincent Street restaurant in the city centre and Silverburn Shopping Centre branch are the only ones to remain in the Glasgow area.
The remaining 20 in the chain will continue to operate as normal under the control of the Joint Administrators.
Administrators from Leonard Curtis Recovery have said all parties are working towards “a swift solution” to keep as many jobs as possible safe in the remaining restaurants.
The website has started back up again after being down over the weekend
Joint administrator Julien Irving said: “We are working hard to seek approval from the companies’ creditors to secure this. If, however, this is not possible, then as Joint Administrators, we will seek a buyer for the business.”
The Handmade Burger Co website is now up-and-running again after being shut last week with the two Glasgow stores no longer listed under the ‘Our Restaurants’ section.
The company’s social media pages, however, are still not available.
