DRUGS cops have taken £50,000 worth of cocaine of the streets following an early morning raid.

The Class A drugs were seized during the raid at an address in Mauchline, Ayrshire at 8am on Saturday.

Police say during a search of the property, which was carried out under warrant, a substantial quantity of Class A drugs, suspected to be Cocaine, were recovered.

A 23-year-old man was arrested for alleged offences under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 relating to the alleged supply of controlled drugs.

The man was held in police custody to appear in court and a full report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Inspector Colin Shearer, Community Policing Inspector for the area, said: "The supply of controlled drugs and concerns regarding drug misuse continue to be one of the main concerns raised by members of the community in East Ayrshire.

"Police executing warrants to search properties and recovering controlled drugs is only made possible with the continued support of the community.

"I would urge anyone with information regarding the sale or supply of drugs to contact their local policing team by calling 101 or to speak with your local community police officer. Alternatively information can be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers."
