TRAGIC teenager Luke Wallace died from a stab wound to the groin, a murder trial heard yesterday today.

A 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is on trial at the High Court in Glasgow charged with murdering Luke in Baillieston on June 17 of last year.

It is claimed he chased after Luke, of Garrowhill, before striking him on the body with a knife at Glasgow Road near to Maxwell Avenue.

The youngster is said to have been so severely injured that he died in hospital eight days later.

The teenager accused is also charged with having a lock back knife.

He faces a final allegation of attempting to defeat the ends of justice by disposing of a knife and washing clothing he had worn at the time of the alleged murder.

Prosecutor Jane Farquharson began the trial by reading a joint minute to the jury.

She read that one of the Crown productions in the case is a post-mortem report that records the cause of death as a “stab wound to right groin”.

The teenager on trial denies the charges and has lodged a special defence of self-defence.

The trial before judge Lord Woolman continues.
