CITY of Glasgow College has been shortlisted for a prestigious architecture award - once again.

The supercollege has come top in a glut of awards since opening its Riverside Campus in 2015.

Now the City Campus, by Reiach & Hall Architects and Michael Laird Architects, is in the running for the 2017 RIBA Stirling Prize for the UK’s best new building.

The award will be given by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) on Tuesday, October 31.

City Campus is up against five other buildings from around the UK.

RIBA President Jane Duncan said: “The RIBA Stirling Prize is awarded to the building that has made the biggest contribution to the evolution of architecture in a given year.

“This year’s shortlisted schemes show exceptionally creative, beautifully considered and carefully detailed buildings that have made every single penny count.

"Commissioned at the end of the recession, they are an accolade to a creative profession at the top of its game.

"Each of these outstanding projects has transformed their local area and delights those who are lucky enough to visit, live, study or work in them."

The college has taken the 2017 RIAS and RIBA Award for best current Scottish architecture, as well as the Architects’ Journal’s top prizes; the AJ100 Building of the Year and AJ100 Client of the Year awards.

It has also collected the award for Education Building of the Year 2017 at the Scottish Design Awards and is currently in the shortlist for this year’s British Construction Industry Awards: Major Building Project of the Year.

City Campus is also on the shortlist for the Andrew Doolan Best Building in Scotland Award which will be presented in November 2017.
