A KNUCKLEDUSTER and a bottle were among offensive weapons seized by cops who rushed to a Scottish beach after thousands of teens turned up for a boozy get-together.

Police Scotland confirmed they arrested 10 people in total yesterday afternoon at Troon Beach.

Those arrested ranged in age from 14 to 20.

Officers confirmed most of the arrests were in relation to breach of the peace.

Two people, however, were arrested for alleged possession of offensive weapons. Those weapons were a knuckleduster and a bottle.

Those arrested came from Ayrshire, Glasgow and elsewhere. Many travelled from Glasgow after a Facebook invitation circulated on social media.

Police Scotland sent additional officers to the area to handle the crowds after reports of the youngsters illegally drinking alcohol.

Police also seized "significant quantities" of alcohol.

Chief Superintendent Paul Main, divisional commander for Ayrshire, said: "Approximately 25 police officers were deployed to the area including local officers, officers from the road policing unit, mounted branch and support unit. Officers seized significant quantities of alcohol and more than 10 arrests have been made.
"Whilst the majority of people came to Troon to enjoy the sunshine and the beach, a number engaged in anti-social behaviour, resulting in officers intervening in incidents of disorder."

Earlier, the Evening Times reported that three teenagers were also taken to hospital

Locals said young people were taken away in ambulances, with over indulgence in alcohol the suspected cause.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesman confirmed their attendance.

He said: "We received a call at 2.02pm on Tuesday, July 18 to attend an incident on South Beach, Troon.

“We dispatched seven crews, two managers and our special operations response team.

"Three patients in their teens were treated at the scene.

“Three patients, one male and two females, in their teens were taken to University Hospital Crosshouse.”
