A DRUNK man who shouted racist abuse at strangers has been sent to prison.

Scott Prior, 41, pleaded guilty to acting in a threatening and abusive manner on three separate occasions this year.

The first incident took place on Argyle Street on May 17, after he was asked to leave a McDonald’s restaurant. Prior, of Kirkton Avenue in Knightswood, was seen to be acting erratically and shouting loudly when there was children nearby.

On June 7, he was seen sitting on the steps outside of the Royal Concert Hall close to a family with prams.

He became abusive towards the family, and shouted at them: “You f*****g immigrant, go back to your own country.”

Around 6.20pm, Prior was travelling on a First Bus along with a couple with their two children.

Once again he became abusive to the family and made comments including “f*****g foreigners, they are taking over our country”.

Another passenger and the driver told the Knightswood-man to stop being abusive to which he replied: “They are my problem, they are taking over our country.”

Prior appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court for sentencing after pleading guilty to acting in a threatening and abusive manner and shouting racist remarks.

Sheriff Swanson sentenced the accused to 201 days in prison.
