A STRANGER stabbed a teenager in Bridgeton during a 'totally unprovoked attack'.

The 18-year-old victim has been left with a serious injury and now murder cops are investigating the attack.

The teen was targeted between 9pm and 9.30pm on Tuesday, July 18 by the stranger in Dale Street, near to the Bridgeton Community Centre, Dalmarnock Road, Glasgow.

He was taken by ambulance to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he is currently being treated for a stab wound. Hospital staff describe his condition as stable.

The suspect is described as white, between 18 to 20 years, around 5ft 8 inches to 5ft 9 inches with short dark hair. He was wearing a burgundy coloured polo shirt, white knee length shorts and ‘Air Max’ training shoes.

Detective Constable Gemma Lawrie, at Shettleston is leading the inquiry.

She said: “This would appear to be a totally unprovoked attack which has left this young man with a very serious injury.

“We know that there were quite a few people in the vicinity around the time the assault took place and I urge these people to contact police immediately. I especially would like to speak to a man who contacted police regarding the incident however didn’t leave his contact details.”
