A MARINE has been ordered to carry out unpaid work for taking part in disorder at the Hibernian vs Rangers Scottish Cup Final last year.

Hibs fan Michael Glen was seen on CCTV footage leaving the supporters stand and entering the pitch following the final whistle at the game on May 21.

The 36-year-old made his way through groups of Hibs supporters in order to get to the Rangers end of the stadium.

He was later seen near to several Rangers fans who were engaged in a fight.

Glen, of Hamilton Road in Cambuslang, ran into the ongoing fight and began to throw punches in the direction of Rangers supporters.

One punch connected with a fan’s head, him causing him to fall to ground.

He was seen engaging in two other fights and gesticulating towards fans before running towards another clash between supporters before changing his mind.

Glen appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court for sentencing after pleading guilty to engaging in behaviour which was likely to engage in incite public disorder and entering the field of play.

His defence agent told the court that his client had served in the Marines for ten years and had been part of tours in Iraq.

Sheriff McConnell ordered Glen to carry out 165 hours of unpaid work in nine months.
