A TEENAGER told a court of his fear when he discovered his friend Luke Wallace bleeding in a driveway and phoned for an ambulance.

Josh McFall, 18, was with Luke on the night he was injured in Baillieston, last year.

He told a jury he thought his pal was hiding from a 17-year-old who he had had a confrontation with, then realised he was hurt.

Mr McFall phoned 999 and a recording of the call was played to the court which heard him saying he thought Luke had been stabbed.

The witness was giving evidence for a second day at the High Court in Glasgow where a 17-year-old is accused of murdering Luke in Baillieston, on June 17 last year.

It is claimed he chased after Luke, of Garrowhill, before striking him on the body with a knife at Glasgow Road near to Maxwell Avenue. Luke died in hospital eight days later.

The teenager accused is also charged with having a lock back knife.

He faces a final allegation of attempting to defeat the ends of justice, by disposing of a knife and washing clothing he had worn at the time of the alleged murder.

The witness said he saw blood on Luke’s hands and asked what happened but said “he couldn’t really talk to me”.

He claimed he initially thought Luke had been hit with a bottle but was told by a girl who had been with the accused that she thought he had been stabbed.

Miss Farquarson asked: “How did you feel at this point?”. He replied: “Scared, obviously. I didn’t know where he had been stabbed or anything, I didn’t know where he was bleeding from.”

The 999 call made by Mr McFall was played to the court during which he repeatedly asked for an ambulance and said he thought Luke had been stabbed.

He asked what it was like listening to the recording and said “Still scary thinking about it.”

The 17-year-old denies the charges and has lodged a special defence of self-defence.
