A MOTORCYCLIST has been rushed to hospital after a crash involving a van on Glasgow's M8.

Emergency services rushed to the scene just before rush-hour traffic at around 6.30am.

The crash happened on Junction 11, Stepps Road and forced the closure of several lanes which later reopened.

The man, whose age and condition is unknown, was taken to Glasgow's Royal Infirmary.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesman said: "“We received a call at 6.35am to attend an incident on the M8 at Junction 11. We dispatched one accident and emergency crew to the scene. One male patient was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.”

Commuters travelling to Glasgow were stuck in traffic just off the slip road to the Glasgow Fort in Easterhouse as a result of the accident.

Motorists were warned of delays in the area.

Meanwhile, emergency services are attending a three car crash on the M74 at Polmadie Road northbound.

There is also another road traffic accident on the Clydeside Expressway Eastbound before the Finnieston slip road.
