MORE cops will be on the streets of Baillieston this weekend after a young man was stabbed during a late night fight in a park.

The East End area commander Chief Inspector Stephen Hazlett confirmed to local politician MP David Linden that more officers will patrol the area following the stabbing of a 23-year-old man on Thursday at around 10.25pm.

The Evening Times revealed online yesterday that cops and emergency services rushed to the victim’s aid after he was attacked following a disturbance in Bannerman Park.

The victim was pounced upon between nearby Huntingtower Road and Berridale Avenue.

He was taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he was treated and later released.

Cops launched a probe immediately after the attack, and rows of officers appeared to be carrying out a search of the park in the aftermath.

MP David Linden also told the Evening Times that additional officers from the Violence Reduction Unit will be in the area.

He said: “I wanted to make sure there was an increased police presence in the area over the weekend. I was encouraged by the conversation I had with police.

“My primary focus is the safety of local residents in Baillieston.”
