A MAN was sentenced at Glasgow Sheriff Court for shouting sectarian abuse at police officers.
Neil McFadden was taken to Cathcart Police Office by police for a separate incident where he then started to shout “orange b******s” towards officers.
The court heard that the 46-year-old also uttered other sectarian remarks towards the officers including “you are all orange b*****s”.
McFadden admitted that on January 8 this year at Cathcart Police Office he behaved in an abusive manner by shouted swore and uttered offensive remarks.
He committed this offence while on bail.
McFadden’s defending solicitor said that his client had an alcohol problem.
The resident of Dixon Road, Govanhill, accepted that being intoxicated lead him to act inappropriately towards officers but it was not an excuse.
He accepted full responsibility for his actions. His solicitor added McFadden was now seeking some help and support to help with his problems.
Sentencing sheriff Wood said: “He’s 46-years-old - he should have been doing this years ago.
He added: “That behaviour is unacceptable.”
McFadden was tagged for three months and placed under supervision for one year.
