COPS are investigating a deliberate fire which was started at a block of flats in Lennoxtown.
Residents were evacuated from the flats after the blaze was started at a top floor property in School Lane at around 12.10am on Tuesday.
Following a joint investigation between police and fire services, the incident is being treated as wilful.
Detective Inspector David Patrick said: “This was a very serious fire, and thankfully nobody was injured, due to the quick actions of a neighbour who saw what was happening and alerted emergency services.
“Extensive enquiries are underway and we are appealing for anyone who was in the surrounding area in the early hours of this morning, and noticed anyone acting suspiciously, to come forward.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact officers at Kirkintilloch CID via 101 and quote incident number 0044 on Tuesday 25th July 2017. Alternatively you can call CRIMESTOPPERS on 0800 555 111 where details can be given in confidence.”
