A MAN chased a woman from a train station after he asked her for the time.

William Millard was standing at Anniesland train station when he approached the woman waiting on the train and asked her the question.

However, after the woman chose not to tell him and then get away from the accused, the 32-year-old accused said: “I’m nasty and I can hurt you.”

Sentenced at Glasgow Sheriff Court the procurator fiscal said Millard was deemed to be acting aggressively by the female witness when he approached her at 9.30pm on the station platform.

He asked her “what is the f***ing time” and she declined to answer before walking away.

It was then the accused said “You better run - I’m going to get you” as he started to chase her on to Great Western Road.

The woman got on to the street and attempted to get help but Millard had caught up with her and was attempting to block her path.

She was soon able to enter a premises where she was able to get assistance.

Later investigating officers were able identify the accused through CCTV footage.

He was then cautioned and charged.

Millard, of Royston Square, Royston, admitted that on June 24 2015 at Anniesland train station he behaved in a threatening manner by approaching a woman and shouting, swearing, repeatedly uttering threats to harm her, following her on to Great Western Road and attempting to block her path.

As part of the same charge he also admitted acting aggressively towards other members of the public.

The defending solicitor said: “As far as the circumstances go he has little recollection of the events of that particular evening.”

He added that his client had been out drinking and that was the “root” of this offending behaviour.

The sentencing sheriff said to Millard: “Your behaviour does you no credit and I am sure it would have disturbed everyone concerned - not least the woman you pursued and acted aggressively towards.”

Millard was sentenced to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work.
