TWELVE men have been arrested after trouble flared at Celtic's Champion League qualifier aginst Linfield at Parkhead.
An investigation was launched after a "small section" of fans of both teams were heard singing anti-sectarian songs.
Celtic fans' group, the Green Brigade also unveiled a paramilitary-style banner during the match and football governing body UEFA charged the club for allowing an "illicit banner" to be displayed.
Police Scotland said twelve men aged 49, 38, 35, 33, 32, 30, 28, 27, 26, 26, 20 and 18 have been arrested and will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
They are due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on August 24 and September 1.
Celtic announced on Monday that the Green Brigade’s two-match ban from Parkhead has all but been lifted.
The cub enforced the ban citing “serious incidents of unsafe behaviour” at their previous two home games.
Celtic also expressed their frustration over a pyrotechnic display during the final game of last season against Hearts.
Despite the ban being lifted for the majority of the ultra group’s members, the club has said it is still investigating events from the matches against Hearts and Linfield and a number of fans still remain suspended.
