HALF of the acts for next year's Summer Night's festival in Glasgow are already booked up with this year's event barely underway, according to promoters.

Texas opened the two-week boutique music festival on Monday night and will perform the last of three sell-out, homecoming shows tonight (Wednesday).

Beach Boys legend Brian Wilson, Tom Jones, the Pixies, KT Tunstall, Arab Strap and 80s favourites Hipsway are also on the line-up.

While promoters, Regular Music were staying tight-lipped about next year's line-up, they said artists are clamouring to play the quirky venue, which underwent a £2.4million revamp in 2013.

Singing legend Tom Jones pledged to return to the bandstand after receiving a warm reception from the crowds at last year's festival.

Regular said it has invested a "significant" amount of cash in a temporary roof and stage extension, which allows bigger acts to perform at the petite music venue.

The promoters have also spent thousands on state-of-the-art lighting, to illuminate all the surround trees of Kelvingrove Park.

Gerry White, of Regular Music, said: "I remember the first year we did the festival, we wanted to try to get Blondie.

"Their management looked up the bandstand on Google and they found a picture of it before it was restored.

"They called us up and said; 'Are you serious?'

"Now, we've got bands phoning us up and asking if they can perform.'

"We've already booked half of next year's programme. Twelve out of this year's 14 artists are sold out.

"The issue we have had is that the bandstand stage is really small and because the building is listed we can't alter it but we found a solution.

"You can extend the stage and we have been able to add an extension to the roof and it's looking great.

"Because of that we can now get the bigger acts. The likes of Brian Wilson has four tour buses.

"It means that if it's raining the artists can still be out the front of the stage."

Tickets are still available for Ladysmith Black Mambazo on Sunday, August 6 and Arab Strap on Sunday, August 13.
