A PRISONER went on the run while getting treatment at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

Police said Jamie Roy, 24, was on remand at Barlinnie when he went missing at 11pm on Wednesday while at hospital.

He is described as around 6ft in height, with short dark hair and has tattoos on both sides of his neck. When he was last seen, he was wearing red trousers, black socks and no shoes.

He is believed to have links to North Glasgow, including Bishopbriggs.

Officers are carrying out 'extensive enquiries' and asked anyone who knows where he is to contact police. Whilst he is not believed to be a risk to the general public, he should not be approached.

Inspector Andrew Small said: "I would like to speak to anyone who is aware of Jamie Roy's whereabouts and would encourage them to contact police. We are searching areas in and around Glasgow as we believe at this time he is actively evading police.

"I would like to reassure the public that we are carrying out extensive enquiries and that Jamie Roy is not considered a danger to the general public however please contact police via 101 if he is seen."
