A SPATE of suspicious car fires are being investigated by detectives in Clydebank.

The three fires happened in the early hours of Tuesday, August 15.

The first incident occurred at around 1am in Glencairn Road, Dumbarton when a Vauxhall Zafira was deliberately set on fire.

The second incident occurred at around 1.45am in Helenslee Road, Dumbarton when a Peugeot 3008 car was set alight.

The third incident occurred in Balloch and involved two vehicles, a VW Touareg and a Honda Civic, being set on fire. Both cars were parked in Smith Crescent and were deliberately set on fire at around 2.30am.

Officers are in the process of gathering CCTV footage in the hope that it may provide additional information.

Detective Sergeant Bruce Fyfe said: “The damaged vehicles will be checked for any forensic opportunities and officers will continue to carry out door-to-door enquiries.

"It’s vital we trace whoever is responsible for these crimes, they clearly have a blatant disregard for other people’s property.

"At this stage, we believe the incidents are linked and I’m appealing for anyone who may have seen or heard anything odd or suspicious in the early hours of this morning to get in touch with us.”
