People attending Glasgow’s Pride festival will be offered HIV testing on-site for the third time at this year’s event.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde will be providing the free, confidential service at Scotland’s largest Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, Transgender and Intersex (LGBTI) event, taking place this weekend.

Staff from the Sandyford Sexual Health Service will also be providing advice.

This year’s theme centres around the importance of LGBTI families, whether biological or for those who have created families made up of friends and loved ones.

Alistair Low, planning manager, NHSGGC, said: “We have found attending Pride Glasgow to be a very worthwhile experience over the years as people are keen to talk with us. We aim to be a listening organisation and learn from the feedback we get from engaging with people.

“The Sandyford Sexual Health Services will be on site to promote its services to everyone, but with an emphasis on providing information on the service to young people in particular.

“Our Steve Retson Project will promote its specialist sexual health service for gay and bi-sexual men and men who have sex with men. For the third year, this will include free and confidential HIV testing from a unit on-site.”
