A MAN who tried to help a drunken friend from falling ended up assaulting him.
Paul McGrain, 27, got in a taxi with his friend in the Gorbals on January 16, 2016.
However the taxi driver was forced to stop the cab and flagged down passing police officers.
McGrain, of Kestral Road, got out of the taxi along with his pal, grabbed him and "intentionally slammed him into the pavement", a court heard.
McGrain's solicitor said his friend was "causing some problems in the taxi" and his client had been trying to prevent him from falling.
However he pleaded guilty to assault and was ordered to do 145 hours of unpaid work as well as 12 months supervision by Sheriff Bonnar at Glasgow Sheriff Court.
