A SUPERMARKET worker tried to bite police officers in a city greenspace.

Stuart Buddie, 26, approached police officers who were talking to a group of students in Kelvingrove Park on May 14 this year.

He ended up having to be pinned to the ground in a face-down position by one of the officers due to his intoxicated and aggressive state. A court heard he then tried to bite the officer’s boot.

Buddie pleaded guilty to assaulting the police officer, along with another three charges during a separate incident on February 19, 2016.

A court heard he called a police officer a “f*****g P**i” and a “f*****g black b*****d” at London Road police office. He also failed to tell police officers he had a razor blade, similar to a Stanley knife, on him.

Sheriff Bonnar, sentencing, told Buddie, of Glasgow Street in Hillhead, that his behaviour was “unacceptable” and “disgusting”. Buddie’s solicitor said his client had served “four years in the Royal Navy and spent a year in Germany”. However he said alcohol had been his downfall and he was discharged from service as a result of his drinking.

Buddie, who earns around £600 a week in his supermarket night shift job, was ordered to do 120 hours of unpaid work within six months. He was also ordered to be supervised by the social work department for 18 months.
