A PROLIFIC shoplifter has been put behind bars after stealing from businesses across Glasgow.
Janine O’Neill began her stealing spree in January 14, last year, after attending at a Superdrug store in Cambuslang.
The 32-year-old, from Castlefern Crescent in Fernhill, stole a quantity of toiletries from the shop which were never recovered.
Just over a week later, on January 24, she stole a quantity of meat from Iceland.
On February 11, she went into Dress2Party, on Howard Street where she stole a quantity of clothing and was found by police officers in Carlton Court drinking wine in a prohibited place.
Her behaviour continued into March 2 of the same year, when she stole from Sweet P, on Dukes Road in Rutherglen.
Among the items taken were household items, toiletries and jewellery to a value of over £450 which were never recovered.
O’Neill then targeted a Boots store where she stole skin care items.
She appeared from custody at Glasgow Sheriff Court after pleading guilty to the thefts.
Her defence agent told the court that she was “mortified, embarrassed and disgraced” at her behaviour.
Sheriff Murphy said that the court must take a dim view of her conduct moving from place to place stealing and sentenced O’Neill to four months in prison.
