Cambuslang cops are looking for information after two men were assaulted and one of them robbed in a “vicious and unprovoked” attack in Rutherglen.
Officers have described how two men aged 50 and 43 were walking near to the shops on Braemar Road when they were approached by two men and a woman who then assaulted the 50 and 43-year-old.
The 50-year-old man also had his wallet and medication stolen from him before the three culprits made off towards East Kilbride Road.
The 43-year old man sustained facial injuries but did not require hospital treatment.
The 50-year-old was treated at Hairmyres Hospital for a head injury before being allowed home.
The incident took place at around 9.25am.
The three suspects are described as:
- white male, around 25 years, 5ft 10 with short fair hair and wearing a grey tracksuit
- white male, around 20-25 years, 5ft 8, slim build with short brown hair wearing a black top
- white woman wearing purple clothing
Detective Sergeant Martin McKendrick at Cambuslang CID said the attack was “vicious and unprovoked.”
He also said the men were “left injured and extremely shaken” by the incident.
He continued: “It is imperative the people responsible are caught and brought to justice for this crime.
“Officers have been carrying out house to house enquiries and viewing CCTV in the local area and know that the shops on Braemar Road would have been fairly busy at this time of the day.
“Therefore, I urge anyone who witnessed this incident or has any information to contact CID at Cambuslang via 101 quoting incident number 1155 of 19 August.”
