A GLASGOW pipe band is on cloud nine after winning a prestigious title at the recent world championships.
The Glasgow Skye Association Pipe Band faced stiff competition from musicians who came from all over the world to compete in the event.
But the band, who train twice a week at the Glasgow Gaelic School, managed to walk away with an impressive Grade 2 in the 2017 World Pipe Band Championships.
One of the pipers Scott Bradley, 23, who comes from the city's Maryhill said the group were delighted about the win.
He said: "It was brilliant for everyone when we won this. We were ecstatic and there was a good buzz in the air.
"It was overwhelming for a lot of the guys, some were speechless and there was even a few tears going around."
The group of around 40 musicians have been training all year for the win. They are led by pipe major Ewan Henderson and leading drummer Arthur Cook.
The Glasgow Skye Association Pipe Band were formed in 1968 and the current pipe core and drum corps have just been practising two years together before their big win.
