Community leaders are inviting people to attend a free Big Picnic to celebrate the diversity of Glasgow's residents.

The One Big Picnic, One Big Community event on Sunday September 3 aims to bring people from different backgrounds together while they enjoy some free food.

It is being organised by community groups brought together by the Interfaith Food Justice Network in Glasgow.

Food will be provided by a variety of community-led projects from across Glasgow, including The Little Sourdough Bakery, SEVA Scotland, Glasgow Local Food Network and many more.

Craig Campbell from Humanist Society Scotland said: "We are delighted to be taking part in this event, bringing together many different communities to celebrate everything that makes Glasgow such a unique, diverse and friendly city."

The picnic will take place in George Square from noon to 4pm on September 3.

Jaz Kainth from SEVA Scotland, a group of volunteers from the Scottish Sikh community, said: "Community-led projects from across Glasgow will be coming together to share their food with the public, and the message that the people of Glasgow make Glasgow a great city."

Vicky Manning of The Little Sourdough Bakery said: "This is a rare opportunity to share a meal and a conversation with someone who may give you an insight to another type of life and a different way of being - we're really looking forward to being part of this event."
