Lady Michelle Mone has hit back at online trolls, saying a lot of the hate directed towards her “has been due to the Scottish referendum and SNP supporters.”

The Baroness Mone of Mayfair also blamed jealously, adding: “Jealousy is an illness. It’s a horrible thing to have.”

The Tory peer, 45, made the comments in an interview with the MailOnline in which she discussed her wealth, political views, and whirlwind romance with Scots billionaire Doug Barrowman.

The bra tycoon said she knows such feelings of resentment towards her are “never going to go away.”

Lady Mone added: “I know I’m a good family person. I’m a good charitable person and, as long as my friends know who I am, then the rest can, quite frankly, do one.

“I actually, really don’t care. I don’t lose any sleep at night - I’m not affected by them at all.”

The mother-of-three’s interview came just days after trolls hit out at the businesswoman, formerly of the east end of Glasgow, after she posted a series of videos showing off the inside of the new £120 million mansion she shares with 52-year-old Barrowman on the Isle of Man.

While many moved to congratulate her, others were not happy with the Baroness’ “flaunting” ways, as online trolls accused her of “showing off,” even going as far as to brand her videos “crass.”

Speaking of her romance with Glasgow-born Barrowman, she told the national the pair are “very much in love,” and said: “Doug tells me every day that we’ll be together for the rest of our lives. It’s just lovely.”
