Two foxes appeared to have recreated the John Lewis Christmas advert after they were captured jumping around a garden sun lounger.

Ian McClure, 55, snapped the playful foxes pouncing on his garden sun loungers in the early hours of the morning.

An amateur photographer in his spare time, Ian's picture caught the attention of people on social media.

Some said the foxes looked like the ones on the popular John Lewis Christmas advert.

Ian said a few years ago an older fox could regularly be found sleeping in his garden at his home in Prestwick, his two pet cats also asleep nearby.

He said: "We hadn't seen any there for a couple of years.

"I got up to get ready for work at around 6.30am and noticed one sniffing about.

"By the time I found my camera, another young fox had appeared and they were chasing and tumbling around the sun loungers.

"One eventually crawled under the lounger and the other stayed above and pounced a few times, I think this is how they catch their prey."

Christmas in August: High streets prepare for festive season - but is it too soon?

Once Ian, from Prestwick, Ayrshire, saw the fox pounce he got his camera at the ready and crossed his fingers that it would do it again, and sure enough it did.

It immediately reminded Ian of a BBC documentary about Yellowstone Park where foxes were seen diving into three feet of snow to catch a mouse underneath.

"I'm not sure they will ever have to do that in Prestwick mind you", said Ian.

The service engineer said he doesn't have a particular interest in wildlife, but added "when it's on your doorstep it can be entertaining."

Ian added: "I think people saw it as a fun shot and some light relief in a time when so much of the news media and social media is about the troubles in the world."
