IT all kicks off as TV stars Jack and Victor try to prove they are Still Game by taking to the football pitch.

Cast and crew of the popular BBC Scotland comedy show were yesterday spotted filming new scenes for the upcoming series at the science park near Maryhill in Glasgow.

It appears the gang from the fictional Craiglang were taking part in a walking football competition.

And while Jack and Victor, played by Ford Kiernan and Greg Hemphill, may not command the £200 million fee that Paris Saint Germain paid for Brazilian superstar Neymar, they showed they could still dazzle on the football pitch.

And in once scene it seems like Isa, played by Jane McCarry, had a shot in goal although viewers will have to wait to see how that turns out.

Filming for the new series, the eighth, is nearly at an end with just a few days left in and around Glasgow.

The cast were in the studio for four weeks before going out on location in recent weeks.

So far scenes have been shot in Inverkip, Castlemilk and Rutherglen.

A BBC spokeswoman said crowds often gathered once word had got out about filming, in particular last week in Castlemilk.

She said: “We had children as young as five or six up to pensioners and everything in between. It just shows the type of show we are working with here, it has universal appeal. It’s a phenomenon, it really is.

“Whenever we go out on location we get mobbed. The cast love talking to everyone and getting to meet the fans and take loads of selfies.”

The seventh series of Still Game pulled in record ratings for the BBC and was a success both in Scotland and England. The new series will run later this year.
