A MAN left a shop worker fearing for her safety after a campaign of harassment.

Martin Mullen met his victim while she was working in Cash 4 Clothes on Clarkston Road, Muirend.

The 55-year-old took a shine to the woman and began visiting the shop several times a week.

Glasgow Sheriff Court heard the two exchanged cards and presents and that: "She suspected he had feelings for her but she felt nothing but friendship between them.

"She said she felt sorry for him and believed he appeared to be lonely."

During one visit, Mullen told the woman he loved her and she explained she had a boyfriend.

Between August 2, 2016, and August 27, 2016, Mullen, of Brunton Terrace, entered the shop on several occasions, shouted and was aggressive with the victim.

On one date, he attended the shop and asked to weigh his dog. The victim agreed but told him to leave straight after.

He refused to leave and became aggressive towards the woman.

He shouted: "If you make trouble for me, I'll make trouble for you," and threatened to tell the woman's boyfriend they had been having an affair.

She contacted police and Mullen was charged. His defence lawyer described Mullen as "deeply embarrassed".

Sheriff Stuart Reid placed Mullen on a six month non-harassment order.
