BUS services will be  disrupted on Sunday when thousands of cyclists take to streets of the city for the Pedal for Scotland event.

Around 10,000 people are expected to get in the saddle for Scotland’s biggest  cycling event.

That will result in bus  diversions being put in place from around 5am  until around 1pm.

With a number of streets in the city centre and East End closed, First Glasgow will introduce alternative routes and stops.

First Glasgow managing director Andrew Jarvis said: “Pedal for Scotland is one of the biggest events in the city’s calendar and attracts thousands of spectators and participants.

“We are keen to make customers aware of our alternative arrangements to ensure spectators and other customers can use our services during the period when diversions are in place.”

Temporary arrangements will be in place for service 2 towards Airdrie and Faifley, service 38 towards Easterhouse, Chryston, Barlanark, the city centre and Baillieston, service 41 towards Easterhouse and the city centre, service 43 towards Easterhouse and Parkhead, services 46 and 60 and service 90 towards Braehead and Partick.

Passengers are being warned it will not be possible for buses to travel east or west along Trongate and Gallowgate/London Road from 5am until 10.45am. Services will be diverted via Ballater Street and Bridgeton Street.

Passengers are asked to board on Glassford Street for services 2, 18, 60, 61, 240, 255 and 263 heading south and east.
