A MAN tried to belt two residents after they asked him to leave their close.
Sean Loughrey, 29, was sheltering in the close on Carment Drive, Shawlands, after being attacked by a gang of yobs in the area.
Around midnight on May 6, 2016, two residents had asked him to leave their property and he went outside.
A court heard how Loughrey took of his belt, and tried to hit the female residents but missed.
He was then led round to Kilmarnock Road by one of the male tenants, where he tried to belt him, but missed again.
His solicitor explained his client, of Monifieth Avenue in Mosspark, realised how distressing the incident must have been for the two victims.
Sheriff Cameron said if the belt had actually struck, he would have been facing a much harsher sentence.
He was ordered to pay a fine of £675.
