“I would dance about in a majestic Wonder Woman type way in my swimming costume and welly boots - it was Glasgow!”
The 41-year-old actress was plucked from obscurity after responding to a ‘cattle-call’ for her role as Diane in Trainspotting.
She added: “I hadn't gone to drama school so I didn't know anything.
“I didn't know about landing on my mark, I used to land on a different one every time during Trainspotting, I felt really bad about it.”
Macdonald is currently starring in Goodbye Christopher Robin alongside Margo Robbie and Domhnall Gleeson.
