A THUG hurled racist abuse at a takeaway shop worker during an outburst he claims not to remember.

John Scott was passing the Madras Takeaway in Parkhead when he approached the open door of the shop and began to shout vile abuse to three people inside.

He yelled: "You have rats and I'm going to get you shut down."

The father-of-two continued to shout and swear and his abuse escalated with him taking out his aggression on one of the three witnesses.

The 25-year-old shouted at the victim: "Speccy f**k" and "f*****g P**i".

Glasgow Sheriff Court heard Scott then turned his attention to the group, shouting: "I'll stab youse," and telling them how well known he was in local criminal circles.

The thug then began to attack the shop door and windows, punching them with his fist.

The witnesses contacted the police immediately following the incident around 11.30pm on April 4, 2017.

Scott's defence brief said: "His behaviour is nothing short of appalling.

"He has no explanation other than drink had been taken.

"He does accept full responsibility and regrets his involvement.

"He is a young man who does have a history of offending and gang related activity.

"But he has been out of trouble for six years with a stable family background.

"He is clear this is a serious offence."

Sheriff Lindsay Wood said: "That was you the PF was talking about who behaved in that way.

"That was just silly, you getting drunk and behaving in that way."

Scott, from Carntyne, replied: "I hadn't had a drink in a long time."

The sheriff said: "You maybe showed your true colours. When are you going to grow up?

"You are the only dad to those two kids and they need to look up to their dad.

"Get a grip and grow up."

Scott was placed on a Community Payback Order for 12 months and ordered to complete 120 hours of unpaid work within four months.

He must also attend alcohol counselling and was tagged for four months, keeping him at home from 9.30pm to 6am.
