A MAN was battered in the head in a vicious late-night attack in Glasgow.

The 31-year-old was taken to hospital with a serious head injury after a fight broke out in the Trongate at around 10.55pm last night.

He was taken to the Royal Infirmary where medics describe his condition as stable. 

Police have now appealed for witnesses to get in touch.

A police spokeswoman said: "At around 10.55pm on Thursday, police were called to a report of a man having been seriously injured during an altercation in the Trongate area of Glasgow.

“Emergency services attended and a 31-year-old man was taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment to a head injury.

“Enquiries are continuing and anyone with information is asked to contact Stewart Street CID via 101 and quote incident number 4089 of Thursday 21st September 2017."
