Two motorists were taken to hospital after being injured in a car crash in East Ayrshire.

The collision happened in Main Road, Crookedholm, just after 5pm on Friday.

Police Scotland said a 19-year-old man was driving north in a red Ford Fiesta when it collided with a white Citroen car heading in the other direction.

The man and the 47-year-old woman driving the Citroen were both taken by ambulance to Crosshouse University Hospital.

The woman was treated for minor injuries before being released, while the man remains in hospital in a stable condition.

Sergeant Cat Gibbons at the road policing unit in Irvine is appealing for any witnesses to contact officers on the 101 number.
