The Willow Tea Rooms celebrated the first anniversary of the opening of their second tea room in the iconic Watt Brothers department store by giving diners a free tea, coffee and a slice of birthday cake with their lunch today.

The Willow team transformed the 100 year old third floor interiors of Watt Brothers back to their original grandeur in September last year. It’s already a big hit with fans of The Willow and Watt Brothers who attend the regular knitting events in the tea room and enjoy the range of dishes on offer.

Anne Mulhern, owner, The Willow Tea Rooms, commented: “We cannot believe it’s been a year already. It’s just flown in and we are delighted that it’s been such a success. We love working with the staff at Watt Brothers and their customers have welcomed us with open arms.”

As part of the celebrations on Saturday September 23, Watt Brothers offered a number of Willow Tea Rooms’ customers a birthday surprise of gift vouchers to spend in the store.

Commenting on the anniversary, Willie Watt, Watt Brothers Managing Director, said: “It’s been a quick first year but an incredibly tasty one with all the wonderful home-baked cakes and scones available for customers and our staff.

“The Willow team have literally transformed our third floor and they quickly established the place as a ‘must-visit’ tea room and we look forward to celebrating many more birthdays with them.

“Feedback from our regular customers has been excellent and the tea room has proven to be a very popular pit stop for our loyal shoppers.”

The Willow Tea Rooms at Watt Brothers is open Monday – Saturday from 9.30am until 5pm and 11.30am – 4.30pm on Sundays, serving breakfast, lunches, small plates, afternoon teas and home baked cakes and scones.
