SHOCKED friends have paid tribute to a young man murdered in a "senseless and violent" attack by a "despicable" individual.

Police last night named the victim of a killing in Easterhouse as 23-year-old Paul Bexley.

And officers appealed to witnesses of the crime to "do the right thing" and come forward with information. 

The emergency services were called to a disturbance in a flat at Baldovan Crescent in the Easterhouse area of Glasgow at around 12.40am on Sunday.

It is believed a house party was taking place in the property at the time.

Mr Bexley was found with stab wounds and taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary, police said.

He was pronounced dead a short time later.

Friends expressed their sadness on Facebook in a serious of tribute posts.

Chantelle Roche wrote: "R.I.P Paul Bexley. Can't believe I am writing this.

"You were such a mad man when I was younger, always annoying all of us.

"I hope you're partying hard up there until we meet again."

Another friend, Jasmine James, added: "R. I. P Paul Bexley. You were some laugh.

"Fly high soldier."

Police launched a murder inquiry and a post-mortem examination to establish the exact cause of death is due to be held.

Detective Inspector Mark Henderson, of Police Scotland's major investigation teams, said it was vital officers trace the killer.

He appealed to fellow party-goers to "do the right thing."

DI Henderson said: "A young man has lost his life in a senseless and violent attack, and it is absolutely vital that we trace the person responsible.

"We understand there was a party within the flat where the incident took place and people in attendance will have witnessed what happened.

"I would appeal to these people to do the right thing and tell the police what they know because this despicable individual has no place in our society."

Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives via the 101 number, quoting incident number 0310.

A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
