A WHITECROOK mum enjoyed some of the world’s wildest water slides after shedding a massive five stone for a dream holiday to Florida.

Keli Auld tipped the scale at more than 19 stone at her heaviest, and managed to slim down to 18st 2lbs before realising she needed to make major changes in her life to be a role model for her two daughters.

When her own mum said she was going to try slimming club Weight Watchers, the 41-year-old decided it was time to take the plunge, and began her three-year journey to fitness – losing an incredible 5st 6.5lbs in the process.

Keli said: “I finally have the confidence to go on rides without worrying about being too big and I can enjoy water slides.

“I can now walk with confidence on the beach without worrying about what other people would think of me and I can play with my kids.”

Now Keli is able to fit in to the clothes she always wanted to wear and run around with her six-year-old daughter – who has already picked up on her mum’s new healthier habits.

She said: “I always covered up, I never felt confident in a swimming costume and I felt like I was letting myself down as a mum.

“It’s been a bit of long slog to be fair but people seep saying that’s the best way to do it and keep it off.

“For so many years I never did anything about it. I thought that’s the way I’m meant to be but then I just bit the bullet.”

She added: “It’s been great being able to be active and do stuff with my youngest daughter but I’ve got a bit of guilt with my older daughter, who is 18, because I probably wasn’t the best role model for her when she was younger.

“My younger daughter already wants to eat healthier and now I know I’m a good influence on both my girls.”

Keli’s advice to any fellow slimmers is balance is key as she strives to ensure she continues to enjoy food.

She told the Post: “I try and stay on track as much as I possibly can. If I know I’ve got something coming up I work around it. I’m not stopping living my life or enjoying my food – I don’t want to deprive myself.

“I got to Glasgow Club but my friend is a personal trainer and she has really been a big support to me. For the first year I hated it but once I started to see the results I became more addicted to exercising than food.”

The mum-of-two admits she still has a way to go until she reaches her goal weight but is happy with her new 12st 9lbs figure.

She said: “I’ve never been in a rush to get to a goal and I’ve still got a wee bit to go but for me it’s just being about changing my lifestyle.

“That’s what matters the most and I’m confident I’ll reach my goal – I’ve come this far.”
